THE GOAL: Because all my friends and family have been so incredibly supportive and because we all blew past my original $$ goal long ago, I have updated my fundraising goal and aim to gather in another $300 for all the kids with - and who will ever get - cancer. So you all still have a chance to join in!!
THE PICTURE: On Wednesday, May 22 - that's this Wednesday! - the big digital billboard in Times Square will feature GCC riders from 11am to 7pm. My profile pic will be displayed at 6:27:28PM EST. OMG!! Anybody in NYC passing by Times Square at that time could be in for a real fright! ;-)
The stories GCC shares about the brave kids living with cancer are so moving I don't know how anyone could resist hopping in the saddle and riding for them!
Thinking of you all...
It’s May 1st - one month of training ahead before my June cycle challenge. In response to all your support and generosity I have committed to riding 350 miles in June. Given days off for bad weather, road trips and really really sore muscles, I figure I have 10 to 12 good days in which to do my 350 - that’s an average of 29 to 35 miles a day. Is that a lot?
In appreciation for your generous support the Great Cycle Challenge sent me a 2019 jersey! And due to the unexpected generosity of this year’s IRS refund and the unbounded enthusiasm of my Rain or Shine riding team buddies for the new bikes they bought this spring - I went out and bought a new bike this spring!! (My new Trek Checkpoint ALR5 and GCC jersey are featured in the photo below.)
So I am all ready to get out on the trail and train hard during May so my June challenge is a breeze! I’ll keep you posted as the training miles accumulate.
Thanks again for all your support for me and for the fight against pediatric cancer. If you haven’t yet tossed anything into the pot and would like to, it’s really easy and absolutely any amount is greatly appreciated. Just follow this link to my Great Cycle Challenge page and click on the orange Donate Now button.
For those of you who are new to this email group, I have included below my original email announcement and the updates I have previously posted. My personal Great Cycle Challenge page also includes information about my challenge, about my riding team and about the Great Cycle Challenge.
Wishing for all of you all the support, determination and enthusiasm you may need to meet whatever challenges enter your life this summer - invited or unexpected. I certainly appreciate everything you all have sent my way thus far.
And our team Rain or Shine is now second in the nation!! Go, team, go!!
OMG! You all have helped me pass my $$ goal yet again and now I am 1st in Illinois and 17th in the NATION! Yikes! How could I possibly get more motivated to make good on my miles and make good for children's cancer research? You all are the best!
OK, i'm really moved by all the support i have received already from friends and family. your generosity has already put me over my $$ goal. SO, in order to find some worthwhile outlet for all the goodness and motivation i am feeling, i have INCREASED MY $$ GOAL and - though the official riding doesn't even begin until June 1 and i only have 21 days in which to get it done - i am INCREASING MY MILEAGE GOAL. Thank you all for helping, considering or just listening!
