Well it looks like I’m going to be sidelined. Diagnosed with a inguinal hernia that I am going to need to take care of. I’m 75 miles off of my mileage goal, thankfully to my generous sponsors I have hit my fundraising goal and then some. Even though it’s not within the rules of our challenge I have decided to pause it, effective immediately and when I resume it,I will give myself the appropriate amount of time to get the last 75 in (of my 400goal). Right now the doc says I’m going to be sidelined at least a month from normal activity, hopefully he will clear me to do some spinning on an exercise bike with no resistance so I may still have an outside shot of hitting it by the end of this month. For the rest of the Great Cycling Challenge crew and staff keep going you’re doing great work!
Keeping score at home? .... At 81% of the 400 mile goal. 325 miles done; 75 to go. With Covid the September Event was the Virtual New England Parkinsons Ride. It would have been this past weekend on 9/12/20. Did that event Saturday .... 65 miles. Had a family commitment on Sunday, so no ride. Hit the trail today for a 42 miler.
If you haven't donated; today is a great day to do so .... Donations are being match today. Double your impact!

So if your keeping score at home: This weekend 128 miles, including 2 “hill workouts” totaling 4436 feet of climbing. Total mileage toward the GCC 400 goal: 159.89.
Thank you all who donated. We hit the target .... NOW: I ride. ;-)
We are closing in on the donations. Thank you all who have donated. The legs are ready to go; 400+ miles are in the bag
My wife Deb posted this to FB and brought it to my attention. Just left me speechless.
WOWSERS. Thank you everyone that has donated so far. We are 1/2 way to our fund raising goal! I'm really in awe of your generosity!
I am really blown away! Thank you all that have donated so far. It is very touching and I deeply appreciate your support!
I have been debating with myself regarding this years challenge. With the "crisis" would people be able to ride? I could ride inside but the total mileage would be way down. As much as I'd want to hit the goal for this year (400 mi), there is no way to be able to tolerate an exercise bike for that distance (no matter how many movies I find for the pain cave). Then there is the financial aspect ... could people afford to donate? Well I've been furloughed (for now), I'm going to ride anyway, so if you have the means please donate. If not I understand and don't want to cause you hardship. Follow my rides on Facebook and/or Garmin. See you out there (on the trail, and on the road).
