My daughter Michele was diagnosed with ALL on the eve of her 20th birtthday. When the recommended treatment failed she was saved by a bone marrow transplant from her brother and she won over her Leukemia/Lymphoma, albeit with lots and up and downs for almost fifteen years. She achieved many of her post cancer goals, went to college, travel the world and worked in nature conservation programs at home and abroad in Namibia. As a survivor she remained a great motivator in support of many fundraising efforts and a lover of all forms of existence. The say: " Lighting never strike twice in the same place" but it did for her when she was afflicted a Triple Negative Breast cancer. It was a particularly aggressive form of breast cancer and it took her life. She received her BA on her hospice bed, surrounded by her husband, her family and friends and left us with a legacy for a profound love for life that is inspiring us to participate in the Great Cycle Challenge.

My Story

30 Jul 2021

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

  • Pushing against the negatives to continue meeting the Callenge
    13 Sep 2021

It is always a struggle to remain motivated for a long term challenge. As the day go by and the rides follow each other’s negatives situations become obstacles to positive goals. A few days ago the bike I had recently tuned up in preparation for more climbing in the second half of September was stolen from the trunk of my car. ( good thing, I have another I can use) I does put a damper on the enthusiasm as does the Days getting shorter and the weather turning wetter. But, on the other hand, my eleven years old grandson has joined my team and his riding is a mew inspiration : what he is doing keeps me proud. He racks up the miles and raises good money for the cause and he has rekindled my fire to ride and ride.
