I'm Riding For

Andy Benefield

Andy Benefield

Andy was first diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2011. He fought that battle and won, which was amazing. Then in late 2018 Andy found out that he had another battle with cancer ahead of him; this time it was dealing with his pancreas. In 2019 Andy started his 36 chemo treatments before enduring a 12-hour surgery in August of 2019 to remove the tumor. The surgery was a success and although it was a tough recovery, he was upbeat and thankful. Unfortunately, Andy had a setback in 2020, just six months after his surgery. The pancreatic cancer returned to Andy's body. So, in February of 2020 Andy started chemo treatments again.

My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

  • Why I ride
    1 Jul 2020

This year I am riding for Andy. Andy and I have been friends for almost 30 years. For the many that know and love Andy, he is affectionately described as fun loving, outgoing, opinionated, talented, caring, an attention hound…the list goes on. For me, I would describe him first and foremost as a child of God, a husband, father, brother, and good friend.

For 14 years Andy has been the drummer in a local band called Full Circle. He also lends his musical talent to worship bands as well. In addition to music, Andy is an avid BBQ pit master and I credit a lot of my cooking knowledge to Andy.

Andy has always been very outgoing so the cancer treatments and our current situation with social distancing have been particularly difficult for him, but like everything he does he approaches it all with a smiling face, a good attitude, and an unwavering faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. He has good days and bad days but in true Andy fashion, he is an inspiration to many so that is why I am riding in Andy's name. Love you Brother!
