I'm Riding For

Jim Swanson, Marcia Anderson, Melissa Wagner, Rick Runquist and Jim Fosmer and too many more

As I ride, I reflect on all of my family and friends who have battled cancer--some have won their battles, others are still fighting, way too many have been lost. I do this to give hope to those still battling. To those who may have to battle in the future. My brother Jim and my friend Marcia continue treatment and are doing great! Rick, Melissa and Jim F are doing great, too. I pray every mile I pedal that these loved ones win their battle against cancer. And I pray that every dollar I raise will help find more treatments that work and even better, someday a cure! I know this ride is mainly to battle childhood cancer, but those I ride for are all kids at heart. And unfortunately, cancer doesn't care what your age is. Help one, help all!

My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

My Challenge

  • 6 Years and Going Strong
    3 Aug 2022

This will be the 6th year that I am riding to raise money to fight kid's cancer, and wish I could do more. Seems that every week another family member or close friend, or a neighbor, or somebody in the community or somebody I've met has been diagnosed. So I continue to what I can, as I'm able.

The miles I ride (at least when I'm by myself) give me an opportunity to really think about everyone I know who has had or is fighting cancer. And I always stop by the cemetery to visit my brother--it gives me peace and strength to continue pedaling.

My goal this year is the lowest it has ever been. It's not that I don't have the stamina or will, but time is another matter. Between work, my travel schedule and my grandkid's activities, I'll be lucky to get 75 miles ridden. I can only promise to do my best--even if that means I'll have to ride more miles inside than outside.

So follow me on my journey and if you are able--please donate
