My Story

6 Sep 2021

This September 2021 is my second year, taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives, and turn dreams into reality.

Thank you.

My goals have not been met as yet. While today is officially the end of the GCC, I plan to continue raising awareness as long as the weather permits. Thank you to all who have supported and continue to support me on this AWESOME journey! I AM FOREVER GRATEFUL! THANK YOU!!πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

  • 1st Ride on the Capital Trail
    26 Sep 2021

For this to be my first ride on the Capital Trail, it's a little disappointing to me. Especially when I compare it to last year. However, a lot have changed since last year and I'm still hanging in there.

Biking is truly one of my happy places! While I was on the trail today I was able to reflect on how BLESSED I am, and was just so overwhelmed with GRATITUDE to you my loyal supporters. I appreciate you!πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™

Today's ride reminded me, that it's not about the speed or distance, but the consistent effort that is put forth. On my ride, I passed an elderly couple whom appeared to be in their eighties. They each had two walking cane (for support and balance). On my way back from completing TWENTY MILES! They were approaching TWO MILES. But guys, they were out there on the CAPITAL TRAIL, they even had to cross the highway!

As my rides got better, I made the decision to not ride less than 10 miles because I felt it was a waste of my effort. I realized today, that those missed 3 and 5 mile rides in the community would have certainly put me closer to my goal, so I will be changing my approach! I'm going to be kinder to myself. Take the small wins, and continue to prepare for the main prize!

Thanks again for all the support and encouragement!πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™
