Today I just want to let everybody know how much I've appreciated all of your support during this ride for Childhood Cancer. But at this time one of our kids, Callie, is fighting the Battle of her young life. As such I dedicate the rest of my ride to Calli and I ask all of you to continue to share our cause. Any donations that I receive during these last three days I will match in honor of Callie.

As we come to the last week of this ride I think back to how this all began for me. Early morning December 18th I had a call from my daughter saying that Lilly was in pain they had taken her to the emergency room they were transferring her to the University of Chicago and that she had cancer. I don't know how to explain that this is something that nobody ever wants to hear about their grandchild their child their niece their nephew their good friend especially when they're only 5 years old. I can't even tell you how I found out about the children's cancer research fund I know I read a lot of stuff while we were in the hospital through the winter and I saw it somewhere don't know exactly where but I looked them up and found that they we're highly involved in children's cancer research that most of their money over 77% went directly to research not administrative costs and I felt there was something I could maybe do. So here I am finishing up over 600 miles on a bike this week raising money for kids research and I will continue to do this for as long as I can. I'm not one to join a cause this but this is one I will continue to support. Right now Lilly is doing fantastic, chemo is completed and all scans have been clear, however the chemo itself has caused some damage to her kidney and liver and we don't know how long either will last. Not only that there's never been enough research done for long-term Childhood cancer survivors to know what they have to deal with later in life, it's all a big question. Every single day of her life and ours we will wonder. So thank you so much to all of my sponsors and thank you so much for the Childhood Cancer Research fund. As they say " kids should be living life not fighting for it".#GCCUSA

  • Kicking Cancer's Butt...
    14 Jun 2017

Today's an exciting day with the matching donation ( today only ). Didn't start out that great for me I got up and on my bike at 5 and discovered I had no phone with me to log the ride so I went back in to get my phone which I had neglected to charge last night and it was totally dead. But I continued with a short ride today I wasn't even planning on riding it was supposed to be my day off to get some other things done but being the day it is I figured I better hit the road for a bit. So I got in almost 15 miles not too shabby one of my shorter rides I guess. But again thank you to all my sponsors and remember that these kids should be living life and not fighting for it

    9 Jun 2017

My way to get around the heat I get up around 5 a.m. and I'm on my bike by 5:30 I didn't see a car till I was over an hour into my ride this morning but then again I'm out in the country with more cows than cars anyway. As you can see I'm at 250 miles right now still going strong hope to stay that way. We are kicking Cancer's butt speaking of which kicking Cancer's butt day is actually Wednesday June 14th. I hope to pick up a few more sponsors that day so please spread the word.

    6 Jun 2017

It was too windy for me today so I just used my comfort bike to get some errands done around town. So totaled about four and a half miles and it puts me above 180. Going to try to get on early early tomorrow morning before the winds set in.

Getting ready to go on Thursday of course I've come down with a cold that I'm trying to get over, almost there. I'll be riding later in the day on Thursday due to the fact that Lilly has scans and blood work in Chicago, but I will be on my bike. Thank you all my sponsors but please keep spreading the word we will be accepting donations through the end of June. These kids need all the help we can give them.

    5 May 2017

Trying to get ready for the June ride but weather is not cooperating right now. Lilly is keeping me on my toes however, she is a fantastic coach. I want to thank all of you who have donated to this cause but ask you to please continue to spread the word. Now more than ever research dollars are desperately needed to fight childhood cancers.

  • Miles to go
    23 Apr 2017

As some of my donors may have noticed I've been continually updating my donation goal and along with that my miles to ride. This is because the more that is donated the more I will ride.I'm saying 200 miles at this point because I do expect to reach $2,000 goal but Id sure like to ride more. So please share my page and let others know that I am in this to help fight Childhood Cancer. It's an area that receives only 4% of federal dollars allotted for cancer research and our littlest patients deserve more.

    23 Apr 2017

I want to again thank those who have donated to help in the fight against childhood cancer and ask that you continue to share my page so I can reach as many people as possible with this cause.

I look forward to June but do hope that these crazy winds diminish. I haven't had a chance to ride much this spring due to the wind ( I'm a woose).i will admit however that you get a good workout fighting them. We may have flat roads but the wind more than makes up for the lack of elevation our INVISIBLE HILLS.

This June, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because my 5 yr old Granddaughter Lilly was diagnosed with Cancer in December and we are all fighting the battle right now .

Cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children’s Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

    Thank you.
