My Story

3 Sep 2020

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. No donation is too small to make a difference.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

  • Mom's Birthday, 9/14
    14 Sep 2020

My mother was a breast cancer survivor, having cancer in her mid-thirties. Unfortunately she was not the victor when in her seventies ovarian cancer struck.

Today would have been her 89th birthday. She's been gone for 17 years and I miss her every day.

Today was an abbreviated ride and a hard six miles before work. But it is six more miles than I had at 6:00 a.m. this morning.

I miss you Mom. Take care of the kids for us.

  • Shut up, legs, you're FINE!
    11 Sep 2020

Ugh, disgustingly slow ride this morning due to fatigue, but got it done.

The miles I rode is more miles than I had when I woke up this morning, so there's that.

Will get out again this evening and test my other bike, Ani, with her new saddle...or maybe she will test ME. Time will tell.

    9 Sep 2020

So grateful for the generous benefactors who will be matching our sponsor's donations up to $1.2M today!

Also grateful for no rain or wind on this chilly morning's ride.

Bless all the children, riders, and sponsors today and always!

  • 9/8 Update
    8 Sep 2020

More effective and safer ways to cure cancer in children is desperately needed which has kept me both motivated and creatively updating my goals as each are achieved through the generosity and inspiration of so many.

I issued a challenge on Social Media tonight that will further stretch my physical endurance and strength if our current weather pattern persists. If you see me flying by on my bike caught up in a torrent of wind, please wave!

    Love and peace,

    Sharon
