My Story

21 Jul 2020

This September, for the third year in a row, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

My goal is to ride 200 miles, and raise $1,000.00+ throughout the month of September.

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

  • ...And another ride in the books!
    19 Sep 2020

Now that the remnants of yet another Hurricane / Tropical Storm have passed through, today it's not raining.

No sun out, but no rain either...So, managed to get a good 17-mile ride in today. Yeah!

  • Yeah....Sneaked another short ride today!!!
    15 Sep 2020

Managed to sneak in another ride today. Had to mow the lawn, so today's ride was shorter to give me enough time to mow before it rains again!

  • Broke Halfway Through My Mileage Pledge!
    14 Sep 2020

Finally...!!! After a solid week of afternoon thunderstorms, I managed to get a quick 16 mile ride in. Let's just say, I was working the cardio hoping to finish through darkening clouds around me.

Nonetheless, I managed to finish that much closer towards my mileage goal by hitting 55%...Yeah!!! Onward I peddle.

  • Beautiful day for a ride.
    6 Sep 2020

22-mile ride today. Most of next week is 40-50+% chances of rain so....Getting the last of long rides in and hopefully catch some short ones during the week.

    Beautiful day for a ride.

what a beautiful afternoon ride. I was able to ride just under 13 miles today. The past week has all been over 100 degrees after factoring in the heat index. Today, and all this week, the temp won't even leave the 80's!

Rain will be mixed in daily however, I may be able to squeeze daily rides in before it starts raining. I don't mind riding in the rain however Eastern North Carolina's summer afternoon pop-up showers usually always have thunder, so....No rides.

  • Day-3 of a lazy, hazy, HOT afternoon!
    3 Sep 2020

Today's ride was a shorter ride than the previous two. The body said go-go-gadget, but the mind reminded me how crazy that was. In part to today's temp being 97 when I started...That's not even factoring in the dew point, which felt like upper 60's.

Anyway, managed to ride 12-miles for the kid's, and puts me 12 miles closer to my 200 mile goal.
