Chemotherapy is brutal. It does not discriminate. It kills both the bad (cancer cells) and the good (platelets among other things). This why the need supply of platelets is so important to cancer patients like Wesley.
From Wesley's mom's journal: "The cocktail of chemotherapy Wes was taking really hit his little body hard. He needed countless blood and platelet transfusions, and suffered from a few significant nosebleeds that were hard to control - a side effect of his low platelet count."
Please consider making an appointment to give platelets.
I just hit $2,500 to fight kids' cancer! Thank you so much for your support.
Wesley's mom (Christy) is an instructor at the barre3 studio in Berwyn, PA. My daughter, Molly, loved taking classes with her. It was in this very studio that this very awkward attempt at ballet had been filmed in 2020. This past past October (2021) Molly told me that Christy's son had been diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. My 2021 Great Cycle Challenge had just ended. At 70 years of age, I had been considering not riding in the event again. However, learning of Wesley's diagnosis rekindled a desire to raise funds for pediatric cancer research. I reached out to Christy to see if she would be okay with me "riding for Wesley " in this year's event. She whole heartedly agreed. I am so honored to be riding for this young champ!
