CALEB PAGE, Slidell, Louisiana

CALEB PAGE, Slidell, Louisiana

Caleb is battling a form of Brain Cancer and recently graduated from Northshore High School in Slidell, Louisiana. He had been accepted into Mississippi State University but due to his condition the family chose to keep him close at home with them and in the Fall he will now be attending Northshore Technical Community College taking online courses. Caleb played in the High School Band, loves Charlie Brown & Snoopy and I’m pretty sure one of his favorite foods is COOKIES!!!! If there is a Superman, I think his name would be Caleb! He knows how to fight and work hard to achieve and overcome obstacles. He also is Autistic. During the campaign I’ll tell you a little more about this amazing young man. He has quite a story. It is my Honor to be riding for Caleb Page in the 2020 GCC! We have not personally met yet but I can’t wait to go meet him next time I go across the lake to ride on the St. Tammany Trace.

My Story

16 Feb 2020

This June, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

    9 Oct 2020

Just saw this message from Caleb’s Mom...”Caleb is doing much , much better. The steroids are working which is a sure sign that his symptoms were side affects from radiation and not tumor growing. Thank you so much for prayers.”

Thumbs Up Caleb, we are glad you are feeling better!

    7 Oct 2020

Caleb Page, the brave young man I was riding for in this year’s Challenge has had a rough couple of days from the side effects of his radiation treatments. Caleb was diagnosed with Terminal Brain Cancer in January 2020. Please keep him in your prayers. This is why we ride so that one day there will be no more pain caused by Cancer. Hope your feeling better real soon Caleb.

That’s a wrap, my 6th and most successful Great Cycle Challenge is complete and what a ride it has been!!!!

It was my Honor riding 437 miles over the past 30 days for Caleb Page this year and raising over $30,000 for Children’s Cancer Research. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU to all who generously supported my ride! One person can not do it all alone but together, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE to help rid this world of Cancer.

As long as my body and health allows, I will keep riding each year for these brave kids to help fund the Research to one day Kick Cancer’s Butt!

  • It took a little WILLpower!
    24 Sep 2020

There was no sunset that I was chasing today but there was a GOAL to ride 363 miles this month for Children’s Cancer. Today, I completed that goal with 6 days to spare and what a month it has been! We had 2 major Hurricanes and days of heavy rains and unforgiving winds to deal with making it hard to get the miles in but I dug down deep to gather up some good ole WILLpower and we did it! Now with 6 days left in the month let’s try to Crush this Goal!

    It took a little WILLpower!

  • Rain won’t stop us now!!!!!
    22 Sep 2020

As I rode my 10 miles today in the rain and winds spawned from Tropical Storm Beta, my thoughts were of the Children who fought hard but lost their battle to Cancer and I wanted to dedicate this ride to Kyle Bergeron who gained his wings in December 2006 at the age of 18. I did not know Kyle but I met his Mom when I heard about her Teddy Bear project for Children with Cancer at Christmas that she does each year in Memory of her son. Thru her FB blogs of “Kyles Journey”, I recently learned that Kyle was at Children’s Hospital in New Orleans at the time Katrina hit and he had to be evacuated and transported to St Jude Hospital in Memphis. I thought of how frightening this entire experience must have been not only for him but for his Mom Vicki and the rest of their family. He must have been an amazing and brave young man. In all his pain, he still had the compassion to think of other Children with Cancer and asked his Mom not to forget them and that is how the Teddy Cares Bear Project was born. I reached out to Vicki to see if she knew of any Children battling Cancer that I could ride for this year in the Great Cycle Challenge and that is how I met the Page Family and their son Caleb. This is why I ride. ..For kids we have lost and for those still fighting the battle and to find a cure so that one day Cancer will be no more.

In Memory of Kyle Bergeron 1988-2006

  • Crushing our Goals!!!!!
    16 Sep 2020

We are crushing our goals in the fight against Cancer and there is still 15 days left to do even more!!!! This is beyond my expectations and I couldn’t be happier for my friend Caleb and all children fighting cancer to raise this amount for research so that one day there will be no Cancer. Words can not adequately express my gratitude to all who have generously sponsored my ride to Kick Cancers Butt. For a brief moment, I was not only #1 in Louisiana for donations but I was also #1 in the Country out of 130,000+ riders! I have 98 miles left to ride and 15 days so I plan to crush this goal and then some too!!! I’m pumped!!!!

  • Exciting News!!!!!
    12 Sep 2020

This is my 6th year riding and the most gratifying one yet. 2020 has been a challenging year for many of us indeed and yet the amount of kindness and generosity that has been displayed across the Country supporting the Great Cycle Challenge and Children’s Cancer Research is mind boggling. I don’t ride for me, I ride for these brave kids who fight every day! I don’t raise money for my own benefit, the money is for important research so that one day there is no more Children’s Cancer. To date, I am ecstatic to report that I have raised over $15,000 which puts me #1 in Louisiana for donations and 6th in the entire Country! I’m at a loss for words to adequately thank all of my Sponsors, especially the anonymous ones that I don’t even know who to thank. You know who you are and from the bottom of my heart...THANK YOU! WE WILL KICK CANCERS BUTT ONE DAY and until then, I will continue to ride.

    Exciting News!!!!!

  • Worth getting up early for!
    11 Sep 2020

Riding at Sunrise always puts me in a good frame of mind to face a new day and a great time to meditate. Today was no exception! As I rode 25 miles along our beautiful Lake Ponchatrain this morning, I thought of loss, I thought of pain & struggle and I thought of the WILL to fight that these brave kids have and yet they have the ability to put a smile on their face. This is why I ride each year to help raise money for cancer research so that there can be a day children will not suffer the pain of Cancer and that one day they won’t have to struggle to have that smile. Until then, I will keep on riding as long as my body lets me.

    Worth getting up early for!

Caleb is a sweet young man who enjoys computers, Charlie Brown/Snoopy and cooking. He was diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in January 24, 2020.

He graduated this year from Northshore High School in Slidell, Louisiana. During his time at Northshore was an active member in Band, Key Club, and Beta Club. He is currently taking classes at Northshore Technical Community College ( NTCC) and loves taking walks with his family. He is really looking forward to the pandemic being over so he can go see his old teachers and the nice cafeteria ladies at Northshore High School.

This is why I ride! Your donations will help these brave kids like Caleb fight to “Kick Cancer’s Butt” so they can see many more tomorrow’s.

It’s always exciting to see the pics as they appear on the huge billboard at Times Square on Tribute Day but then the reality sets in when I think of just how many children are effected by this disease each year. This is why I ride. It is worth every minute and every stroke of the pedal that I ride to help raise funds to find a cure in hope that one day these kids can live cancer free and not have to fight for each day that they get.

    24 Mar 2020

Today we are fighting another “C” Word! Due to the Corona Virus 🦠 pandemic, the GCC has pushed our riding month from June to September which for us here in Louisiana will probably be a blessing in disguise with hopefully a little cooler temps for cycling. Sept is also Childhood Cancer Awareness Month so let’s hope this 🦠 gets on out of here so we can ride for these brave kids fighting Cancer. As I hear more details about the Challenge and how it is changing due our current Worldwide Health crisis I will push it out to the Team and to our generous sponsors. Stay Safe!
