    Azaelea's Road to Remission

    9m Β·

Azaelea was re-admitted to the inpatient BMT Unit @ Masonic Children's Hospital today, likely for about a week. Going to get these low counts figured out. They dove even lower overnight, which is surprising for the entire team. They're starting to test and treat for immune complications πŸ₯

Complications like this are common after a Stem Cell Transplant. It's one of the most intensive medical procedures out there. So, I'm doing my best not worry & trust that the team will get this under control. I'm feeling like a parrot saying that over and over this past year and a half 🦜

Silver lining... it took this long to be admitted again. And, we really tried to make today fun. Azaelea strung all 812 (and counting) of her Beads of Courage. We played around with the machine that helps locate veins. We ordered cupcakes to the room from a local bakery 🧁

Thanks for sticking with us on this longer than expected journey. We're so thankful for our friends, family, community, and, of course... the blood donors that make treating her possible.

  • Updated the amount of money we will raise
    19 Jul 2021

Hello Team members!!! Thank you for all of your efforts to date! I have raised our amount as a team to raise it to 2500 dollars!!! Why? Because we have already reached our first goal of 1500 and I know we can raise more!!! We haven't even hit September yet and look at you!!! Rocking the $$.

I have also set up a group ride for Sept. 1 at 8:30 AM at the Merrifield parking lot by Trainbell Resort. We will ride south. No hills and easy riding. If you choose to go north that is great, but I find that part of the Paul Bunyan Trail annoying with so many cracks and bumps, so I chose the south. Go as far as you want and turn around and head back to Merrifield. Hoping that Azaelea can be with us on a part of the ride, and I will keep you updated on that. Such a sweet girl. Anxious to get back to school if she keeps her blood counts up! Let's hope she can and she can kick cancer's butt to the curb! See you all there! Sign up on the group ride page so I know who is coming! Thanks.

Thank you for joining us! Invite your friends. We want to kick cancer to the curb! This September the rides will start, so will we. You can start fundraising now, but our miles-ridden will not count toward our mile goals. And we will increase it as we go along! Thanks. See you on the trails.

This September, Azealea is taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So we are raising funds through our challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support us by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

    Thank you.
