  • Final Tally
    2 Oct 2020

Well, we did it!! We crushed our goals!! We were shooting for a $7,500 goal, and we raised $16,126.20 for the cause. With just 13 riders from our neighborhood riding, we also blew past our 5,000 mile goal, cruising 6,100 miles as a team.

Honorable mention to Julie McWilliams, Jodi Zarin and Christina Condon, who together have raised $8,700. Also, crushing the ride goals were Christin Condon, Bill Numerick & Julie McWilliams with a total of 3,392 miles ridden in September.

We rode for a worthy cause to help fight Juvenile Cancer. I look forward to even more participation and increased goals for next year.

Thank you team, and stay healthy.

    Hi Team,

So, we are a little more than half way thru September and as a team, we are doing great. About to exceed our miieage goal and have raised almost $16,000 for the cause. We would like to get a team picture. Since many of us ride in the morning, perhaps we can find some time, maybe late afternoon on a weekend to all get together to get a group picture. Can I get some availabily for this or next weekend. If we can get some sort of consensus we can make this happen. Please let me know.

    Thanks,

    Bill

    Hi Team.

So far so good. We have 1,000 miles in the bag as of the first 4 days. We are planning a 35 mile ride leaving from Riders Pass and Berrypick Tr at 7am tomorrow morning. Hopefully some of you can join us. There will be a second group leaving from the corner at 8:30 for a shorter 20 mile ride.

    See you there.

  • August First Update
    1 Aug 2020

Happy Saturday. A couple if items for your consideration.

First of all, welcome to our new members. We are now up to 11, but we have almost 100 riders in our Starkey Ranch riding group, so lets get some more community involvement from your network of contacts.

Secondly, so far, we have raised over $5,800 for the cause and would ultimately like for our neighborhood to get to $10k if we got more involvement.

Thirdly, if you are using an app to track your miles (Cyclemeter, MapMyRide, Garmin), see if you can connect it to Strava (another cycling app which then connects to this challenge) so that your miles can show up on our team page. The challenge has a phone app you can install that will record your miles as well. We want to make sure your miles are being included once the ride starts in September, so give it a try sometime this month.

Finally, if you do not have your picture uploaded to your profile, please do that now.

    Enjoy your weekend.

This September, Starkey Ranch Bike Riding Team is taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So we are raising funds through our challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support us by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

    Thank you.
