This is the start of the ride against childhood cancers.

The entire goal of this is to through exercise raise money for research and development to help tackle many different childhood cancers with the overall goal of cancer regression and prevention in children.

The first ride will be today and will most likely be a Normal commute to and from work but nonetheless most likely will have me huffing and puffing.

When thinking about the numerous rides I took before this I think it’s exciting that my long arduous bike rides can be used for such a powerful goal and that so many people will be riding all over the country!

Personally as a believer in God and a Orthodox Christian Catechumen this is a very personal event for me the idea that my suffering or the idea of my struggle through physical means can better the world in any way is a very real parable for Christ and how his physical suffering and death created the salvation for all people, all classes, all nations and all time.

A true healing of the world in which the world can be healed by taking up our cross and following him.

Some may not like this message to those I would say any other example is comparable. I like to use the example of secular Judaism when my Christianisms are not appreciated.

So In this way when we help others there is a real presence of goodness in our life, which then this is the Tikkun Olam where when we go out of our way to help others the world is made a better place one by one. Such is like a light of a candle lighting another candle where we can make this world a brighter place through the pursuit of loving kindness!

So today it begins much like the Torah which begins with Bereshit bara Elohim et hashamayim.
