Well, I got a message from the Bike Shop in Columbus. As I had suspected (and told them) - my back wheel is bad. By bad - they found damaged spokes (in addition to the two they had removed last year) and corrosion inside the wheel.
So a new wheel is being ordered ... I should be able to hit the road by mid next week.
