• A successful end to the ride…thank you all!
    26 Sep 2024

Well, I woke up with a crazy end of the week heading into Gabby’s firstParent’s Weekend, all the while the remnants of the hurricane were heading my way. I still had 7 freaking miles to get in! I knew it would be a stretch to reach my goal of 160 miles, but I needed to push it for the kids. The rain parted and the sun peeked out for a few minutes this afternoon and I got those miles in! It’s possible I’ll get a few more in before the month ends, but at least I know I reached my goal.

In addition, thanks to all of your generous support I crushed my fundraising goal! As of now I’ve raised almost $1,900! My goal was $1,250! You are all amazing.

Even though my role ends soon, the battle against cancer continues for way too many kids. My hope is that one day the words, “Your child has cancer,” will be less hurtful and more hopeful. We’ve come a long way since I met my first cancer patient when those words were basically a death sentence. Still a very very long way to go.

Well, that’s it from me for now. Thanks again for your emotional and financial support. Special shout out to Keith Steller and Rick Fitzgerald who kicked my ass hard enough to knock out an extra 20-30 miles!

Hug hard and cherish every moment!

  • Bitter sweet and savory…
    14 Sep 2024

It’s been 3 weeks since we dropped off Gabby, starting her Freshman year. The “sweet” part was she came home for the weekend! The “bitter” part was that she came in to support one of her best friends who started her f-ing chemo. As I’ve said, I’ve always done this fundraising ride because I care about kids, hate f-ing cancer, and despise the combination of them both. And now it hits too close to home.

Today I knocked out another 20 with my buds Steller and Fitzy. It was 10 to a local BBQ place where (savory) we chowed on some good food then hopped back on the wheels and heading 10 back to home.

This week was amazing, thanks to all of you who donated, with a huge match day, I raised over $1500!! It’s a drop in the bucket but I’m doing what I can to fight this horrible illness that affects way too many kids. I’ve also knocked out over 100 miles and it is hard but feels good.

Thanks again for your support and please share my page with your friends and family. Every single bit helps. In the first two weeks of this challenge, we’ve raised $6.5 million!! Wow!

Hug hard and cherish every moment!
