I'm Riding For

Brian Young (1981-1993)

Brian Young (1981-1993)

Brian and I played baseball together. His brother was on the team as well, and their dad was our coach. Brian's mom and my mom's best friend were sisters. Obviously, our families were closely connected. During the time Brian was at his sickest battling leukemia, our Little League team held pancake breakfast fundraisers, hosted bone marrow drives, and did everything we could to help Brian and his family. But after everything he had to go through, Brian's body could no longer hold up and he passed away at the age of 11. Being children and losing a friend because of cancer made a lasting impact on so many of us. Even at such a young age, we understood the importance of banding together as a team to fight for a common goal, whether we were on the baseball field or selling pancakes or helping increase bone marrow donor registrations. And so this year, I ride for my childhood friend and teammate, Brian. And I ride to keep his memory alive as we continue to band together and fight for a common goal: to defeat childhood cancers once and for all! #BY14

My Story

23 Jun 2022

For the second September in a row, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? In 1993, I lost a really close friend named Brian to leukemia. And after all these years, more kids still die from cancers than from any other disease. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year.

So after raising over $1700 last year, I am trying to raise even more money through this challenge to help kids who are suffering, along with their families, and support the Children's Cancer Research Fund. This fundraiser allows them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me once again by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.
