Together, with research, we can improve the cancer club.

My Story

9 Aug 2022

This September I'm riding for the 7th time in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer.

Almost 3 years ago cancer hit close to home and came back again this spring for both my husband and daughter. Research is the only way to eventually prevent cancer as well as find better treatments for our future generations. The mutations that make some (my husband, one of our 4 kids and at least 1 grandchild) more prone to cancers needs more research!

My breastfeeding support is a start on cancer prevention but not enough, I am a believer in continuing research especially on immune therapies, nutrition and what can improve recovery chances.

Please support my 300 miles

challenge to save lives by making a donation.

As a caretaker I bike for mental health as well as supporting this vital cause. Please help if you can, even if it is just being careful as you pass bikers.

Thank you for your support. Helping kids and their parents is my mission in my life.

Peggy

“Thank you, Tom and Lauren, Research hopefully will get kids and their parents out of the cancer club. We are dealing pretty well with Jim's pancreatic cancer; we have had a great life and look forward to eternity. But we both agree it is harder to cope with Kira's diagnosis. We hope research will give Lauryl, and all kids, a chance for a healthy life. She is the one of our four granddaughters who inherited the ATM mutation. We don't know about Blake yet. I hope this finds you well and looking forward to being Oregonians. I expect you both understand the stresses of being part of the cancer club because cancer in the family is stressful. As Jim says, "this dying thing is hard." I thank you for being a great support. Praying research will kick this disease. Love, Peggy and Jim ”

“Thank you Kaye and Jay. So many friends are part of this cancer club. They inspire and motivate me. I was so happy Kira felt good enough to join me for 15 miles. Praying for answers from continuing research. Even in the last three years progress has been made in understanding the ATM mutation and how to treat patients with mutations. Love, Peggy”

“Thank you for the matching donating to our journey to fight cancer and to help kids and their loved ones out of the cancer club. Genetic mutations are being researched and progress is being made. Just in the three years we have known about the ATM mutation, progress on how to effectively treat cancers with a genetic component has improved outcomes. Thank you for your generous support. Hopefully research will provide treatments that are easier and more effective, maybe even ways to prevent this wicked disease.🙏”

We are dealing pretty well with Jim's pancreatic cancer, we have had a great life and look foward to eternity. But we both agree it is harder to cope with Kira's diagnosis.
