My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

    Well what a month how exciting already pumped up for 2025 appreciate all the love and support and donations towards a worthy cause to eradicate children cancers. And we did it in nice weather hot weather windy weather and rainy weather the last 8 days have been off and on …and one we went to the end finished with over 300 miles (so just for what that means) that’s 38 miles short if I rode from Philadelphia to Boston “not to shabby”!! Thank you everyone for the love and support till next year….

    Well as I come to the end of another great year some how with one day to go I am 2 miles short when my other app shows me 1 mile ahead (ok sounds good) will have to take a final lap or two or three Monday afternoon to put a few miles into this just so I know I met goal , nice ride today from waterfront to waterfront nice people good ride except for the 15mph head wind coming back !!!

    Well sometimes you gotta roll up your sleeves and get your work done and we can’t ride in nice weather all the time (rode in downpour) well at least I am clean should have brought some soap!!🧼 🚴🏻‍♀️❤️👍😬🌧️also the cancer app crashed so here is a photo of my back up app

  • What’s with all the noise?

    So another fun ride from waterfront to waterfront (shy a few from typical) don’t feel all that great. Anyway it’s fun to watch the police drive thru the cycle and pedestrian crosswalk because someone was to busy on their phone 👍 “nice job” followed by several other people yelling obscenity’s cause a few folks are exercising…love these days, well pressing on 230 mile down 70 to go in the last 9 days of the challenge to all that follow and encourage me thank you for another fantastic year I really can get this far with out all of you and care you shown me ❤️ also found this new sign installed along my bike path don’t know what to think of this ? Is this a foreboding sign or just bad placement??

    Well hard to believe that my training paid off this year took a different approach apposed to constant riding staggered my rides same mileage but felt better and not so exhausted needing longer recovery times.👍 so we’re sitting at 201 miles in for the first 18 days of the month not bad wanted to get a bit farther but I will take it… this weekend and next weekend will be big for the last 100 miles always like to ride a bit extra for these as I really appreciate everyone who encourages and supported me this year and previous years as well…❤️🚴🏻‍♀️

    We’ll have learned that the cycle challenge riding app is still a mess and not really recording my miles accurately the map and has me all over the place esp going thru woods thankfully I am running two apps and will share right now there is a difference of 11 miles per 150 miles or 6.5% difference will share at the end for what I feel is actual progress…

    Well it’s 6 days into the great cycle challenge and I have managed to make some progress and looking forward to closing this week with almost 100 after Saturdays ride putting us in a good place to knock out 300 by months end (also) as a side note the mileage counter for the great cycle app is pretty horrendous so I am running dual apps to and will share in my last blog post the what I feel is the actual mileage I think the great cycle app is a bit liberal with mileage (not a lot) but I want to be transparent and fair …anyway thank you everybody that reads this dribble and more importantly everyone that donated and has cheered me on …🚴🏻‍♀️🚵🏻‍♂️🏅

    Ah the sweet sounds of my bike clipping along from Wilmington waterfront to new castle city waterfront round trip of just over 18 miles makes for a nice wrap up of the work day unless you have to cross two major roads with commuting traffic (ah the sweet sounds of honking horns and courtesy of the drivers( get off the the fucking road) yes yes fuck you too buddy !!!
