My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
I’m committing to ride 150 miles this September to raise money for children’s cancer research. If you’d like to support me, here’s my fundraising page.
One of the reasons this fundraiser means so much to me is because of a story one of my students shared about their little brother, who wasn’t even 10 years old, battling cancer. Hearing about the chemotherapy, the fear, and the many hardships that cancer brings to both a child and their family was heartbreaking. I found myself asking, How can someone so young and innocent have to endure something so terrible?
At the same time, I was inspired by the incredible strength, courage, and resilience that this child and their family have shown throughout their journey. It reminded me that life is precious and that none of us should take it for granted.
No one deserves to face cancer, and especially not children. That’s why I’ve decided to take on this challenge. Every mile I ride is dedicated to helping raise money for research that can improve treatments, bring hope to families, and one day help ensure that more children can grow up to live long, healthy, successful, and happy lives.
Thank you to everyone who chooses to support this cause. Your generosity truly has the potential to make a difference.
