This September will be my fifth year taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 17,000 children in the US are diagnosed every year. In July 2021, my son, Owen, was diagnosed with Myelodysplastic syndrome. And sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. Owen lost his fight on April 26, 2022.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. Owen never had much of a chance to really live life. He spent most of his last 9 months alive stuck in a hospital room. The 7 months prior to that Owen dealt with painful lesions/sores on his feet, hands, and legs. Some days he just wanted to be carried. Owen deserved better. He deserved more.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer. Only 4% of the billions of dollars the government spends annually on cancer research is directed towards treating childhood cancer. The current treatments are extremely toxic and harmful. No kid should ever have to go through what Owen went through.
