I'm Riding For

Natalie, Rachel, Allison, Sarah, John, and Joan

Natalie, Rachel, Allison, Sarah, John, and Joan

This year I ride in the Great Cycle Challenge not only for my wife, Joan, who has survived cancer of the throat twice, but also for other family members who have valiantly fought one or more kinds of cancer. Only a week ago, we lost our beautiful Rachel Bredfeldt who finally lost her years-long battle with both Parkinsons Disease and several types of cancer. (Rachel was the sister of my daughter-in-law, Lisa.) I ride for my beloved daughter-in-law, Natalie, who continues her treatments for breast cancer. I ride for my sweet sister-in-law, Allison, who continues her fight against cancer. I ride for my wife's lifelong friend, Sarah, who continues her struggles with a brain tumor. I ride for my Marine buddy, John, who is still undergoing treatment for prostate cancer. Agent Orange is the gift that keeps on giving! I ride for my brother, Doug, who has fought bladder cancer for years. Like John, he is also a Vietnam Vet who was exposed to Agent Orange and other defoliants. None of these folks are children, but each loved one's struggle with the ravages of cancer, and its treatments is a reminder for me of the horror the children and their parents go through once the cancer diagnosis is received. Please donate to this worthy cause.

My Story

26 Jun 2026

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

Dave
