I'm riding again! This is my 7th year taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

A personal why: It is more meaningful than ever as I ride in memory of my mother, Jean Kirkland, who is my earthly hero and battled cancer for 2 years. I'm riding in memory of her beautiful life as she continued to have strong faith and courage!

I'm also riding for a student I taught for the past 2 years and his mother who are equally heroic! He finished his treatments and is in remission. His positive outlook and sweet nature is amazing --always grateful for his family and friends in the midst of his challenge! My hope and prayer is that he and thousands like him, will beat this terrible disease!

So, here I am again riding to raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work developing lifesaving treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer.
