Every September, I participate in the Great Cycle Challenge to help fight childhood cancer, and I'm asking for your support in one of two ways.

If you're able, please consider making a financial donation to my ride. Every dollar supports the Children's Cancer Research Fund, helping fund research for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

If a financial donation isn't possible, please consider donating platelets. I donate platelets every month at my local American Red Cross Blood & Platelet Donation Center, and there are many other blood centers that accept platelet donations. For children undergoing chemotherapy, platelet transfusions are often lifesaving. Treatment can destroy their body's ability to produce enough platelets, putting them at risk for dangerous bleeding and delaying the care they desperately need. One platelet donation can make a tremendous difference.

Why do I ride?

Because cancer is still the leading disease-related cause of death for children in the United States. More than 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children lose their battle every week. These children should be playing, learning, and making memories—not fighting cancer.

Throughout September, I'll be riding to raise money and awareness for these amazing kids and their families. Whether you choose to make a donation, donate platelets, or simply share this post, you'll be helping bring hope to children who need it most.
