My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
I have participated in the Great Cycle Challenge for many years but last year was unable to ride due to being newly diagnosed with Chronic Myeloid Leukemia in August. Experiencing cancer and treatment directly has given me a deeper understanding of what kids and their families go through when faced with cancer and more determination to get back on my bike and support this cause. Over the years I have, I have ridden for children of close friends, those who have fought and beat cancer, children still fighting, lost children, and others who are connected to cancer in some way. There have been tremendous advancements in the understanding and treatment of cancer but we still have a long way to go. Together we can increase the chances of cures being found and improvements in treatments that won't take such a toll on these brave kids.
Thank you!
