My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.

Even Nelms
3 Jun 2024Evan Nelms’ Story
Evan Nelms was born in Savannah, GA on June 11, 2007. He was a little boy who loved matchbox cars, The Cars Movies, playing outside, his cats, his friends and his family, especially his Mommy. He was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML) in April 2012. He fought his battle twice all within a year. Ultimately, during his relapse, he became chemo-resistant and lost his heroic battle at 5 years old on April 13, 2013. He left a lasting legacy of inspiration, kindness and hope to some many lives that he touched during and after his journey and short life. Evan has impacted so many people; a true inspiration! As his mother, I couldn't be prouder! We thank you for the support, thoughts and prayers. He is missed beyond words. We love and miss you Love Bug!
His story:
April 22, 2012, Evan (5 yrs old, 6/11/12) was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia which required 4 rounds of inpatient chemotherapy. September 4, 2012, Evan concluded all treatment and was in remission! But on January 4, 2013, he relapsed with AML in the testicles. It then spread to his bone marrow and his right eye and he ultimately lost vision in that eye. Then a leukemic mass form in his back. The AML kept spreading. He was now chemo resistant. We had a Make a Wish trip to Disney World, the most treasured memories were created. Evan returned to Baltimore, MD to see if we could start a trial. That was declined as the cancer had spread to 98% of his body at that time. We returned to CHOP in Philadelphia only to find he was terminal. We had less than a week with him until he joined the angels on April 13, 2013.
