I'm Riding For
Trenton "T-Bone" Miner
I would like to mention my cousin Trenton "T-Bone" Miner. He is the person I ride for. He was diagnosed when he was 15 with a rare brain tumor and after surgery, and chemo treatments for 3.5 years he lost his battle. But he never lost his hope. He was my cousin and my friend. More importantly everyone who met him was better for it. He fought hard enough to get a semester of college in at the University of Iowa and everytime anyone visited him he would always tell them as they departed, "Thanks for coming". He was one of a kind. Every ride this year I've seen a Cardinal on the trail and I like to believe it is him watching over me. Please support my ride so maybe we can develop better treatments, so maybe we can find a way to stop these diseases.
My Story
Hello Everyone
I know you have received information about this from me in the past. I also understand that you may already have a charity which you donate to yearly and that is awesome!
On Kick Cancer's Butt Day we raised 2.2M dollars. This day was special because all donations received were matched up to a total of 1.5M dollars. Wow! That's amazing sponsorship from businesses instead of just individuals.
So far this year we've raised over 7M for the Children's Cancer Research Fund which is a non profit dedicated to funding grants for research initiatives aimed at discovering new cancer treatments for children.
I believe in this charity.
They are transparent. You can research them in Charity Navigator if you would like to know more.
A good portion of the funds we raise go directly to families to help combat financial difficulties that arise when these rare diseases attack a child. It is very expensive.
You can donate through the link on this page or contact me if you are more comfortable donating in person.
Finally, I would like to mention my cousin Trenton "T-Bone" Miner. He is the person I ride for. Please support my ride so maybe we can develop better treatments, so maybe we can find a way to stop these diseases.
Thank you for your time today!

2024 Great Cycle Challenge
17 Aug 2024What an amazing year it's been so far! I started a journey of my own a year ago when I went back to school. I started in the Renewable Energy Systems Technology Technician Associate of Applied Sciences program at Clinton Community College, Unfortunately, the derecho took down the school's wind tower trainer, and there were not enough funds to replace it or to continue hiring professors who could teach the curriculum. So, they had to end the program. This left me in a precarious situation. I didn’t really know where to go or which way to go. The only reason I was at Clinton Community College was because they had that specific program. It was 2 and a half hour roundtrip commute to the Blong Technology Center two or three days a week. Fortunately, I was able to reach out to NICC in Peosta. With the help of EICC (also known as Clinton Community College, Muscatine Community College, and Scott Community College), I was able to enter the Industrial Automation and Mechatronics Associate of Applied Science program at Northeast Iowa Community College and with the credits that transferred in from Clinton, and the new release of my 22-year-old transcripts from the University of Iowa, I will actually receive my applied science degree sooner than originally expected, although it is in a different area of study. The reason I mention this today is because I believe that my commitment to the Great Cycle Challenge and my cousin T’s memory has taught me that perseverance is created by us. It is not something that exists until we decide to manifest success through the tough times. This summer, when it looked like my plan had come to an end as far as going back to school, I remembered that moving forward is the only real way to go; anything else is a daydream or a wish and only keeps one trapped in one’s own mind. But taking action, moving forward, and carrying the ones we have loved in our hearts is the true way to persevere.
