I'm Riding For
Haylee Werth

October 19th, 2020 changed our lives forever. We found out our 5 year old daughter, Haylee, had cancer. Her specific type is Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. Haylee went in for surgery the very next day to have a port placed in her chest to begin chemotherapy. The next two weeks were a blur but consisted of a lot of pokes, several procedures, and loads of medications on top of chemo. It was so hard to accept this new reality for us. Haylee went into remission in November and we cried tears of joy receiving the great news! Seven months later, after 12 spinal taps, dozens of rounds of chemo, several emergency room visits, and many other challenges, we are just a few weeks away from the maintenance phase where Haylee will only have to go to appointments once monthly. She will begin taking oral chemo medications daily for the next year and a half to keep the cancer cells away. She is a strong little girl and she was ready to fight from the beginning! She is going to do big things!!! Haylee’s 2022 updated story... Haylee has been doing amazing continuing on with her treatments. She was able to get back in school last fall and is wrapping up 1st grade. She continues to take oral chemo at home along with clinic visits monthly and lumbar punctures with chemo every 3 months. There have been a few bumps in the road with emergency room visits and pauses on her chemo to give her body time to recover but nothing major and for that we are so grateful! Haylee is looking forward to having a great summer break full of all the things she loves - swimming, camping, and boating! We are counting down the days until New Year’s Eve where she will officially be done with chemo and get to “ring the bell”!!!
My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.
