I'm Riding For
my aunt, Shahsultan Abdul Rehman
I am riding this year to honor all cancer warriors, no matter what their journey was or is. In particular, I am riding this year for my aunt, ShahSultan Abdul Rehman, who fought a tough and brave battle this year. I ride in her honor.
My Story
I've signed up for the 2026 Great Cycle Challenge and will be riding this September to fight cancer! My goal is to pedal 50 miles throughout the month.
Why am I doing this? Because cancer is the largest killer of children from disease in the United States – 38 children die of cancer every week. Additionally, according to Medical News Today, 1 in 2 women and 1 in 3 men in the US get diagnosed with cancer. Furthermore, globally, according to the World Health Organization, 1 in 5 people globally will develop cancer in their lifetime, and unfortunately, 1 in 9 men as well as 1 in 12 women will die from it.
My challenge will be tough, but it's nothing compared to what these brave people and their families face every day of their lives as they battle this terrible disease.
This year, I am dedicating my challenge to my Aunt, a cancer warrior. Nobody, no child nor adult, should have to suffer through cancer and not get the treatment needed to survive. Here's to ending cancer and saving lives! Everyone, especially kids, should be living life, NOT fighting for it!
