My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Lots of miles today!

Hopped on the bikes at 9 and rode out to the west end of the island, about 23 miles where we had lunch and took a break before we rode another 12 miles, took another short break and ended the day with 7.7miles. A total of about 43 miles. I reached my 💯 mile goal today but plan to keep going. The weather has been amazing so taking advantage of it!

Today I am thankful to have the opportunity and the physical ability to ride a bicycle for the purpose of raising funds for Kids Cancer Research so that one day they can get out there to ride their bikes. These kids are braver than most people; for the challenges they face each day are scary. I will be thinking about them a lot as I push through the miles.

But the weather this week has been gorgeous and it's so nice to spend time outdoors without feeling like you are melting. You mentioned that Laurie McKelvie was in your yoga class. I talked to her today and she is recovering well from her knee replacement surgery. It's just going to take some time with the rehab to get back to "normal". I'd love to get together again before too long. Maybe a walk / hike at Caledonia like we did a while ago? Once again many thanks for supporting my ride this September.
