I'm Riding For
Mitch Vanya, my Dad; Mitchell Lee, my oldest brother, Kathy, my breast cancer survivor and wife
I'm riding as a person who lost their Dad as a child. I was 6 when my father, Mitch Vanya, passed away from prostrate cancer. In the picture he is holding me, I'm 3 at the time. I don't know which is worse, losing a parent or losing a child...actually they are about the same, both horrible. I have been blessed in so many ways in having lived longer than my Dad, having had the chance to be married to one woman for the past 49 years, having seen my children grow into adulthood, having experienced the joy of two of the most precious grand daughters and one new grandson! We are riding for a cure so that others will not have to experience this horrific loss. Keep pedaling folks!
My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.
