My Story
I'm beyond excited to be starting off the month of September on the right foot by being part of this wonderful cause.
I was diagnosed diabetic in August of 2020 and been trying to find ways to stay more active i.e - running, tennis, or just walking in general. However, I've always been a fan of bike riding ever since I was a kid, when my father took off my training from my tricycle and taught me how to ride my bike.
My recent diagnosis gave me another reason to take up the old hobby once again and get back on the wagon. Love feeling the breeze, running through my hair as a cycle through the streets and the natural high that I get post my workout.
Growing up, I also had a little brother who was special needs that required our undivided attention 24/7 to tend to his needs - which is another reason I can relate to this cause and it really hits home for me, in the fact that not only are the kids battling this disease, it really is the whole family going through this as well.
My little brother unfortunately left me too soon but I know he is in heaven, running free and looking after me and my family.
Great Cycle Challenge is giving me the opportunity to not only get healthy and in shape (lord knows I could lose some weight hehe) but also raise funds for this wonderful cause to help these families give the best quality of life to these little warriors without having to worry about bills or other expenses. They can focus all of their energy in helping their child beat this disease.
I'm motivated to raising as many donations as possible and crushing/exceeding my 100 mile challenge!
Ride safe and let's get this party started! :)
