I joined Team Nat in support of 15-year-old Nathalia, who passed away in 2019, after a three-year battle with osteosarcoma. She is one child too many lost.

My Story

I’m so lucky to be part of the Great Cycle Challenge. This is my fifth year riding to help fight kids' cancer, which is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. More than 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. Which is where you and I come in.

I've ridden 2,605 miles in four years, which is a decent average for an old man, but one accident each of those four years has left me with a knee that may become uncooperative. I rode only a few hundred miles since last year’s GCC, but have managed four or five 15-mile rides a week for two months without pain. So my goal this year is only 400 miles, but I will surpass that if the knee allows.

You, my friends, have donated $2,090 so far, and I thank you. My goal this time is $500 but I think we can beat last year’s record of $682. I started us off with $51.75 and will make a similar donation mid-September.
