I'm Riding For
Lorraine, Nat, Callie, Charlie and all kids

Childhood cancer has touched my life through a good friend, Jay E., whose son, Charlie, has successfully recovered. Charlie graduated from high school and will attend the college this fall. Yea!!! Charlie is a great kid who plays video games, hangs out with his family and makes stuff in his Dad's shop. I hope there are more kids like Charlie who successfully beat cancer.
My Story
Why I ride - The biopsy results would be back in 4-6 weeks. Jay shared the news with us at our weekly Friday morning breakfasts. His son would play computer games that shot zombies, a metaphor for the cancer cells. We would listen and offer our support. As a friend, I was hoping that I could do more. It was 2015 and Eric Walcher, another member of our breakfast group, suggested that we ride in the Great Cycle Challenge to support Children's Cancer Research Fund. Done!
The biopsy results were negative. Jay's son was cancer free!
His son has not let the cancer define him. A recent graduate from high school, a Destination Imagination State Champion and Global Finals participant and a pretty good fantasy football player (I'm in 3 three leagues with him). He is attending the UofM this fall.
A child's cancer upends a family. You will do anything to make them better.
I ride with the hope that more kids successfully win their battle against kid's cancer. Please donate today.
