Zélie Duquette
Little Zélie is a sweet three year old fighter who has been dealing with leukemia since she was two. It’s been a difficult year for this little hero, who has had to deal with trips back and forth to St. Jude’s in Memphis for regular treatments, all the while still wanting to enjoy life as a big sister and be with her friends. She has two more years of treatment ahead of her. The money we raise supports testing and studies that eventually may find cures for childhood cancers like Zélie’s.
My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
I can’t believe this will be my fifth year supporting this cause. I have been honored to have been included in the champions for the last three years; my fund raising has been consistently 5000 or more each year. The reason for that is simple; it is you, my generous donors. This year I won’t be riding as many miles, for personal reasons, but I still hope to collect as many donations as I can.
There is no reason why, in this high tech day and age, that we are still seeing our precious children losing the fight against cancer. I want to do all I can to prevent that from happening.

Best day yet!
6 Sep 2024Today was an absolutely perfect day for riding. The weather was in the low 70’s with a slight breeze, and I felt great. I was able to ride 25 miles before my butt finally said “ok, that’s enough”. Well, let’s be truthful, I don’t have a talking butt (how weird would that be?) but if it could talk, that’s what it would say. I feel confident that I will reach my mileage goal.

2 Sep 2024We took the road less traveled yesterday, in hopes of avoiding traffic. It was rough. Hills like a roller coaster. I will not be taking that road again, traveled or not! After all that we still only managed 7 miles!

It’s almost here!

I plan on getting out there bright and early (or dull and late, depending on the weather!😝) Regardless of how many miles we ride, it’s all to bring attention to the fight that these precious kids have to fight every day until we get a cure. Back in the saddle!
23 Jul 2024I have finally felt well enough to get back on the bike, and today was my first ride in a while: 15 miles through Research Park. It was actually pretty pleasant, since the rain had cooled things down considerably. I also met the little girl that I am sponsoring: Zelié Duquette. She’s pretty awesome. Slow start
12 Jul 2024Well, after dealing with gall bladder surgery and now a second turn in the hospital for my husband, not to mention the oppressive heat, I haven’t had a chance to get in any warm up rides. Here’s the thing though- yes, it’s a biking challenge, and I plan on riding, but first and foremost it is a fundraiser, and I hope the miles won’t stand in the way of the donations.
