I’ve taken part in the Great Cycle Challenge every September since 2020, riding and raising money to help fight childhood cancer.

Last year was different. I couldn’t ride while recovering from surgery, but so many of you still supported my fundraising anyway. I haven’t forgotten that.

This year, I’m back on the bike and aiming to ride 100 miles throughout September. I’ve done very little riding since the 2024 Challenge because of injury and recovery, so 100 miles will be a real challenge for me this year.

Still, there’s some perspective in that. I get to choose this challenge. Kids fighting cancer don’t.

Cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease among children in the United States. Every week, families hear a diagnosis that changes everything, and far too many lose a child to this disease.

Kids should be worried about school, friends, sports and simply being kids. They shouldn’t have to fight for their lives.

That’s why I keep riding.

Every dollar I raise will support Children’s Cancer Research Fund and its work to develop better treatments and ultimately find cures for childhood cancer.
