My Story

7 Aug 2026

This September 2026, I am again taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! I have completed 5 years riding the Great Cycle Challenge. This is my 6th year riding this campaign. Since 2021, I have raised over $7,000. This year I want to bump that total by at least $1,000. This year will be tough for me because my left arm in a cast and I will complete most of my ride on a stationary bike. But I am not letting this "bump in the road" stop me from riding and fundraising for Children's Cancer Research.

I have started a team and want to recruit 10 riders to join this cause in September, My stretch goal for team donations is $5,000 this year!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve. Please join my team and create your own legacy... for the children.

Your support will change little lives for the better!

Thank you.

Rick

  • My 3rd ride for Children's Cancer Research
    7 Sep 2026

8 miles recorded on the spin cycle avg 18kmh. A bit faster than first 2 rides. Riding a spin bike for me is not real comfortable. But with left wrist & arm in splint past the elbow, it is hard to maintain a rhythm. This large cast comes tomorrow (I hope!) Replaced by a smaller brace.

Why am I doing this? Because am raising donations for Children's Cancer Research! I met a mom this week who lost her daughter to this disease... it broke my heart but also hope because this child's mom keeps a bright light on in her heart and a hope for other children.

Please help bring hope for cures to these precious young people and their mom & dads!

    Please Donate online this week.

By the way, donate on Wednesday of this week (September 7th)and your donation will be matched by a generous benefactor. Up to $1.4 million will matched by all online donations on this Kick Cancers Butt Day! Please help!

Below is my picture on Times Square (with a bunch of other cycle warriors!) from last week.

    6 Sep 2026

I am still in a left arm cast after. Surgery 5 weeks ago. So I can't ride my road bike (hard to shift and balance with one arm). So this September is on a spin cycle. Donations are starting to come in which makes riding indoors more bearable. 20 miles done... 80 to go.
