My Story

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! This year will be my third year participating and raising funds.

Ironically my first-year riding in 2021, I signed up for this challenge and then about 6 weeks prior to the start, I myself was unexpectedly diagnosed with lymphoma. It was incredibly difficult to finish this as I was being treated, but I carried on thinking of how strong I needed to be and how much stronger the kids are that this ride represents. The picture in the profile is me in 2021, as I finished The Great Cycle Challenge. I will always ride as this means so much more to me now.

Cancer is a very ugly disease for anyone, but truly heartbreaking when thinking that it happens to innocent children who do not deserve this. I know now firsthand how difficult this really is.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

My Challenge

Final Ride of Challenge

Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support for this year’s challenge! This challenge has been unique and meaningful to me for many reasons. Obviously when I began this journey 3 years ago my heart was in this for the kids, which breaks all of our hearts with just the thought alone. Then getting a cancer diagnosis for myself just prior to the start of my first year,made it more personal. I will always make myself an advocate for this cause because September is childhood cancer awareness month and it also blood cancer awareness month.

This year I was able to log a ride every single day of the challenge, while exceeding both my fundraising and mileage goal. This was all possible even with a nagging back issue, a mechanical issue on my ‘A’ bike, and while making a business trip out of state. But still none of those accomplishments and hurdles to overcome can happen without all of you folks sponsoring me and keeping me excited about being in the saddle no matter what. I greatly appreciate all of you and your support! I certainly hope you all feel great about what we’re doing together, and I hope that we can partner together again for many more years to come each September! For the kids and in honor as a blood cancer survivor - THANK YOU ALL!!! 🫶
