My Story
When I was very young, my dad was diagnosed with bladder cancer. He battled, but it ended up metastasizing in to his lymphatic system. He fought hard for YEARS to see me go to college. Two months later, he passed away.
Two years later, at the age of 20, I was diagnosed with a Ewing's Sarcoma in my arm. Back then I was given a 50/50 chance to survive, and after a long bout of chemotherapy and radiation, I am proud to say that I won the most important coin flip in my life!
The first time I did this ride, I did it in honor of my father, Edward Jandt.
I recently had some significant arm pain around my original tumor site and went back to the doctor, convinced my cancer had returned. Fortunately, X-rays were clean, and was diagnosed with tennis elbow and radiation fibrosis.
So this time around, I am being a little selfish. Being nearly 30 years disease free, and recently given a clean bill of health, I'm riding for ME, and all the kids who need help kicking cancer's butt!
