My Story
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!
Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.
Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.
Your support will change little lives.
Thank you.
(Those that know me have seen me participating in walk-a-thons, etc. Although it's been quite awhile since I've biked any, this challenge popped up in my fb feed and it has motivated me to take on this challenge.)
***note: mileage starts tallying in September, but I'll update leading into it on how my practice is going. I may increase my goal from it's starting point, but I will not decrease it any. Goal will be locked in before the challenge starts.)

Finishing out the weekend.
13 Sep 2026Got another 5(ish) miles in today. Still sore from yesterday's community free fair activities, but I couldn't let the cool breeze of this evening go with celebrating with at least a ride of some sort - and it was worth it. Saw the neighborhood doe / fawn pair, along with the smells of fireplaces beginning to wake up for the fall season.
Gonna have to throttle things up a bit to beat my distance goal.

Friday relaxer
11 Sep 2026After work and mowing the yard, I was able to sneak in a 7.4-mile ride. I know this may not sound like much to many, but I'm not in the best of shape. But hey, I'll be alot better off after this challenge, and considering I haven't rode much since getting my license many years ago, I'm doing pretty good.
I see there's been a few new donations - thank you so much for supporting this cause (Children's Cancer). Back on August 5th(?) when I decided to participate, it was sort of a spur of the moment decision(I didn't even have my own bike much less ridden in awhile). God has provided - I picked up a good used bike off of fb marketplace, and I'm not as wobbly as I initially feared.
Unfortunately, many of us know someone that has been affected by cancer in some form or another.

Shakedown ride and more
10 Sep 2026This past Monday i finished swapping out the tires and tubes, adjusting a few things in, and got a few shakedown rides in.
Everything checks out good, and no unusual soreness so we are a go for the rest of the month!
This weekend will be tough to get a ride in as the schedule is pretty packed, but I'm planning on getting atleast another 20 miles knocked out.
