This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

My brother Sam was diagnosed with B Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia on June 28, 2022 when he was 2 weeks shy of his 17th birthday. Imagine being told you have a life threatening illness when you are at the strongest and fittest time of your life??!?!? It was mind-blowing to say the least. After going through 6 months of grueling chemotherapy, we realized that the clinical trial medicines wouldn’t fully put him in remission. THIS IS ONE REASON WE NEED MORE MEDICINE OPTIONS.

Thankfully there was another pathway for Sam: had a stem cell transplant on March 29, 2023.

He is 17 months post transplant now (almost 18 months!) and off to college at Bates. ❤️

But did you know that only CAR-T has been developed with kids in mind? All the other medicines/chemotherapy started with adults and the doses have been modified for kids. Kids and teens deserve more than this! Our bodies are still developing so these medicines have longer lasting impact than they do on adults.

So I am raising funds through my challenge tosupport Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.
