My Story

4 Aug 2021

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer for the FIFTH year in a row!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. With my newly discovered cancer diagnosis, I'm especially pumped to help these kids at the beginning of their lives suffering from something that usually comes at my age!

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will help make a BIG change for little lives.

Thank you.

My Challenge

  • WE did it!
    25 Sep 2021

Well, we both met our goals and passed them, though YOU ALL knocked it out of the park! Thank you for participating with me in the Great Cycle Challenge (for many of you, AGAIN!). Let's keep our little fighters and their families in our prayers as they struggle against cancer!

P.S. It's not too late to donate! Every bit helps childrens' cancer research. In Spanish, "Mejor tarde que nunca!" (Better late than never!)

  • Argghh! Another flat tire!
    18 Sep 2021

I've had two flats in about a month. Before this, I don't think I had two flats, ever! So, I decided I'm not riding on city streets anymore (which would be much safer anyway), and use our pickup truck to take the bike to the bike trail. Many of you will be relieved, as am I.

As I've noted before, riding on the streets here is nerve wracking due to the drivers, traffic and (I learned the hard way) road debris! I'll be back on the road soon. At least I'm now at 66% of my riding goal!

  • YOU DID IT!
    15 Sep 2021

Not only did you blow my original fundraising goal out of the water (and there's LOTS of water all around us here in Puerto Rico), you blasted through my second goal of $3500 for kids' cancer research! You are an amazing group of friends and family. Thank you. Now, it falls to me to complete MY promised riding goal of 100 miles. You give me impetus and motivation to "get 'er done". Pray we don't have a hurricane hit this Saturday (my next planned ride). So far, looking good.

  • Over halfway to my riding goal!
    11 Sep 2021

What a beautiful morning for a ride. I ride alone and in quiet (no music or headphones). It is a time for me to reflect on God's love and care for the little ones I ride for. God is with them, as are we as we ride or donate to help alleviate their suffering and that of future children with cancer. Thanks for your support. Keep the kids in your prayers as I do in mine!
