I'm Riding For

Ethan Strenge

Ethan Strenge

ETHAN was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma when he was four and will be turning 19 this summer. I don't think there are many others that can embody life like Ethan does. In addition to graduating from HS in 2020, he will undergo facial reconstruction surgery. His cancer journey is at www.caringbridge.org/visit/ethanstrenge ----- Please consider sponsoring me with a donation to the Children's Cancer Research Foundation so that others can LIVE. CCRF invests in lifesaving, leading-edge research in the prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and cure of childhood cancers and blood-related disorders.

My Story

29 Feb 2020

2020 is a big year. Ethan, my inspiration for taking part in the GCC six years ago, will graduate from high school. Next winter this awesome survivor will undergo an extremely intensive reconstruction surgery.

I ride for Ethan. I ride for Audrey who doesn’t get to celebrate any more birthdays with her family. I ride for Heather whose family misses her each and every day. I ride for all the kids and families who deal with cancer’s effects.

Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week. EVERY. DAMN. WEEK.

KIDS SHOULD BE LIVING LIFE, NOT FIGHTING FOR IT!

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

  • It's a beautiful day to be alive!
    2 Sep 2020

It was another early morning ride today and the full moon was spectacular against a clear sky.

It's a beautiful day to be reminded that I ride for kids and their families whose lives have been disrupted by cancer. This includes Molly Vergin, the daughter of HS friends, whose leukemia relapsed earlier this summer after seven years in remission. Her story is at www.caringbridge.org/visit/MollyVergin.

Sending you all the love that you've sent me with your generous contributions. 💛

  • GCC starts today!
    1 Sep 2020

I don't know about you, but it seems like forever ago since I started planning GCC 2020. Due to COVID (how many sentences start like that this year?), the ride was pushed back from June to to September to coincide with Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

Today I started my month-long challenge to bike 300 miles. On this chilly and dark morning (hello fall!) I put on my reflective gear and reveled in the beautiful sunrise. The sky was glorious.

    GCC starts today!
