I'm Riding For

Wesley Jones

Wesley Jones

A couple of years ago, the barre3 location in Berwyn, PA allowed me to film an embarrassing ballet routine in their studio. I had promised to do the dance, if I hit my fundraising goal, and the studio was helping me fulfill that commitment. Little did they know that a year and a half later one of their own instructors would receive the heartbreaking diagnosis that her child had cancer. This year, I am dedicating my riding to that instructor's son, Wesley Jones, who is engaged in a tough fight with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia.

My Story

4 Jun 2022

This is my eighth year participating in the Great Cycle Challenge. First and foremost, I want to thank everyone who has supported me in the past. I hope you will continue that support and help me spread the word about this event.

There is no doubt the past couple of years have been a struggle for many. Our lives and routines have been disrupted by the coronavirus. Simply put, life has not been normal. Now, imagine adding the stress and heartbreak of learning your child has been diagnosed with cancer. It would be devastating.

So I am once again raising funds for the Children's Cancer Research Fund to help find a cure . The money you donate will allow them to continue their work in funding lifesaving research. Every dollar will bring us one step closer to helping another child beat this disease.

Your support does, and will, change little lives for the better - as I hope it does for Wesley!

Thank you.

  • Just as Important as a Cash Donation
    16 Aug 2022

Cancer patients have a critical need for blood and platelets . Wesley has already had more than 40 transfusions. Did you know platelets have a shelf life of just 7 days, which is why there ALWAYS is a shortage. As part of my participation in the Great Cycle Challenge, I will be encouraging others to donate blood and/or platelets. The goal is to reach 40 units, the number Wesley has received in helping him battle his cancer. If/when you donate, please email me (mrmcpez@gmail.com). I will be presenting a list of donors to Wesley's parents, as another sign of our support for their child and all the other kids fighting the disease.

  • Kids should have the chance
    15 Aug 2022

Kids should have the opportunity to ride a bike, rather than fight cancer. Riders in the Great Cycle Challenge are raising funds so kids have the chance to ride for a long, long time.

  • Everyone can be a Super Hero!
    9 Aug 2022

Kids need ordinary people to become super heros. What activates our super power? It could be supporting a Great Cycle Challenge rider by making a donation, or by donating blood/platelets to help save a life of a kid fighting cancer, or by joining the Great Cycle Challenge yourself and ride to raise funds for kid's cancer research, or by simply sharing with your friends and family the GCC story.
