My Story

28 Mar 2021

This September, I am taking part again - my fifth year - in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

This year I joined Team Kahleesi. Kahleesi is a 2 year old and was diagnosed with Hepatoblastoma when she was only 9 months old. She is currently in remission.

In 2020, I was riding for a long time friend. In 2018, Pat and his family found out that cancer had entered their daily lives. Sadly, Pat passed away during September of 2020. He will be along with me again this year - in my thoughts and with my music playing loudly.

With your support over the past four years, we were able to raise over $10,000. THANK YOU!

My goal this year - raise one more dollar than 2020.

Your support will change lives.

This is not just an event - it's a movement to end childhood cancer...

Onward!

If you are seeing this note, you have joined my list of sponsors. Thank you!

In just 10 days since I started, you are one of 19 sponsors donating over $2700. This is great. When I first joined this challenge in 2017, I was able to see about $1200 raised for the entire year. In fact, the combination of both 2017 & 2018 amounted to about $2700. My goal this year is to raise one more dollar than 2020. What a great start we have.

Although the actual bike challenge doesn't begin until September, my early numbers show "us" ranking highly in the nation and the state. And in the ever important category of 66-75 years old, I am first.

Cancer is bad. I just found out this morning that a friend of ours and our family passed away over night - he had been dealing with leukemia. Sad.

I will provide periodic updates through this site.

Thanks for being on my team.
