My Story
I'm very happy to have raised over $3500 last September for such a worthy cause with the help of so many caring people for my inaugural ride. There are a lot of good people in this world and the amount of support for these children is testament to that. I cannot thank my sponsors enough. You have been incredibly supportive.
I look forward to riding again to support these brave children in September.
GREAT NEWS !!!! A little girl named Kahleesi who was diagnosed with cancer at 9 months old and after a very long arduous battle is now 4 and in remission. On another great note SHE IS HEALTHY AND WILL RIDE THIS YEAR FOR THE GCC TO HELP SAVE OTHER CHILDREN WITH CANCER.
HOW AWESOME IS THAT ?????
Please find it in your heart to support their plight by sponsoring me for this great event in September. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.
I'm raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support the SickKids Foundation to allow them to continue their work in developing treatments and finding a cure for childhood cancer. ( philanthropists welcome )
I'm @ greatcyclechallenge/riders/MichaelKuttner
Thank you for caring and supporting children's cancer research.

FOR THE KIDS
3 Oct 2023I am riding my last ride of the event for the kids.
I wasn’t sure what I could do so I just rode til I couldn’t which was over 12 hours of pedaling.
At about the 80-100 mile mark (I call it the abyss)
I felt the strain on my body starting. I kept a heavy regiment of carbs for energy
but that only goes so far.
I started just after sunrise and finished after dark. It was a long day but pales in comparison to what a child with cancer endures each day.

SO CLOSE YET SO FAR
30 Sep 2023(9/30-RAIN)
I would like to thank my awesome sponsors for the strong support you provided to such a worthy cause. You have raised $5,074.00 and deserve a heartfelt thank you 🙏🏼
Today is the final day of the event and unfortunately it is still raining. My hopes of reaching 1000 miles today were washed away. My plans were to ride 133 miles to finish. If it was a short ride 20 miles or so I would do it but I won’t ride 12 hours in rain. I just can’t.
I will attempt 1000 miles again next year hoping for better weather.
Regardless, the fundraising was very successful which is all that really counts.
I would like to thank so many thoughtful and honorable people for your support of children who have cancer. The funds you donate are crucial to the future of so many children.
Sadly over the past 30 days nearly 150 young innocent lives have been lost to this deadly disease in the US which is why the battle goes on.
That said there are many children like Finley who was recently diagnosed to a maintenance level after 3 years of treatments. He can enjoy being a kid again.
There is also Kaleesi who endured several years of treatment but is now healthy and actually rode in the event this year.
The future is brighter for children battling cancer because of compassionate caring people like you.
🇺🇸 GOD BLESS AMERICA 🇺🇸

ANOTHER HURDLE
29 Sep 2023(9/28-REST)
It’s Thursday night and I continue to see nothing but rain coming in for tomorrow and Saturday which is my last ride of 133 miles to meet my pledge. One more day. I really hope it detours away from New England but looks bad.
I trained hard for 5 months for this event and it now comes down to weather which has been unpredictable and sometimes dangerous as I experienced 2 weeks ago.
If it rains Saturday but predicted to stop in the morning I’m prepared to start in the rain. I’m also prepared to finish my ride late into the night. I did my last ride with no problems. I’m looking at
12-13 hours of pedaling.
On a great note Finley is now in a maintenance phase of treatment. What a warrior !!!
What a smile!!!
I would like to thank my sponsors for being so generous and compassionate.
You are the backbone of this project. 🙏🏼

Call me stubborn
27 Sep 2023(SEPT 26-RIDE 11) *123 miles
I got an early start pedaling by 8:00am into a cold 50* wind.
I wore thermals all day with scarf under my helmet. I started getting a bit tired around 80 miles. The magic number when things start to ache and leg fatigue sets in.
I rode til 7:30 with lights to get back.
I was setting out to cut the 256 miles I need in half but unfortunately came up short.
I have 1 more shot at it. I need 133 miles to reach 1000.
Of course it won’t be easy but I am sure I will fulfill my pledge. See you at the finish line.
I WANT TO THANK MY GREAT SPONSORS WHO ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FUNDING DIRECTED TO CHILDREN’S CANCER RESEARCH.
WITHOUT YOU THIS EVENT WOULD NOT BE POSSIBLE.

FOR EVERY DAY YOU RIDE YOU LIVE TO RIDE ANOTHER
27 Sep 2023(SEPT 21-RIDE 11)105 miles
A beautiful day to ride. Sunny day and lots of happy riders.
This was my 3rd consecutive century ride.
The ride was slow and steady.
I kept the carbs and electrolytes, and protein up which gave me plenty of fuel to go forward.
Thank you to all the compassionate people for supporting this great cause.
You are what makes this all work !!!!!

Lots of rest = Lots of miles
20 Sep 2023(SEPT 20-REST)
First of all my sponsors have reached $4,534 so far and deserve all the credit. If you want to see a long list of caring compassionate people see my donors who really stepped up to the task. For that I truly am grateful. So thank you all for supporting Children’s Cancer Research and helping save young innocent lives. You are making a huge difference in children’s lives.🙏🏼
On another front I am determined to reach my goal.
Last year I rode 5 consecutive 100+ milers. Bad weather, work, and more bad weather has slowed my miles but I still feel I can surpass last year’s mark.
