I'm Riding For
Layne Knapp

December 16, 2010- December 4, 2016 At age 4 Layne was diagnosed with Medulloblastoma. He went through brain surgery and 9 rounds of chemotherapy. Unfortunately, the cancer moved into his spinal fluid and no more treatments would be performed. He was sent home, the week of Thanksgiving 2016 to enjoy being around family and friends. He was admitted back Thanksgiving Day with severe pain. The family was told by Layne's caregivers, that he had a week or two to live and was placed in Hospice at Toledo Children's. Layne was surrounded by his loving family on December 4th, 2016 just shy of his 6th birthday when he lost his battle to cancer. Layne was an inspiration to his family, friends and community. He has impacted so many lives throughout the short time he was on this earth. His journey and life will never be forgotten. Son of Lindsey Rothman and Joe Knapp
My Story
Hi,
This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer! With a starting goal to pedal 100 miles throughout the month and raise $500. I hope to surpass this and will increase if I do.
It's awful to think so many young lives are lost to this terrible disease. Kids should be living life, not fighting for it. I was deeply affected by the struggle and loss our friends went through with their son, Layne Knapp. You can read his story to the left.
I am taking on this 30-day challenge to support cancer research and give these kids the brighter futures they deserve and I'm asking for your support as well. Donations will be accepted through the end of September.
All funds raised will support Children's Cancer Research Fund to continue their work to develop innovative treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer. This is a national nonprofit 501(c)(3) and your donation is tax deductible.
Thank you so much!
