Thoughts from Savvy's father this year April 2020. Thank you Prayer Warriors! We received good news today from Savvy’s scans this week. Her lumbar puncture still shows there are no tumor cells in her spinal fluid. While the radiologist is calling her results “stable”, her doctor is excited over the improvement in the remaining spots that they were watching. They are taking up less contrast than last time. Thank God that chemo works so well with this kiddo and her tumors. She will remain on this medicine for now (which she takes every day at home), and we will scan again in another 3 months. It is amazing watching how incredibly brave and strong she is. She is kicking cancer’s butt and conquering new things constantly. I love watching her get to play and do things like every other kid...here she is finally mastering how to balance and ride on her scooter today! #SavvyStrong #TakeThatCancer

My Story

5 Sep 2020

This September, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you,

Patricia

This should be everyday life of kids. These pictures were taken at Ethan's (grandson) birthday party... he and Savvy just having fun sharing cup cakes & belly laughs. As they should!!!

Thank you prayer warriors!! Savvy’s scan results are in. Her brain is still completely clear, and her spine is stable. The few spots that are left in her lower spine are basically unchanged from last time, which means that the meds she’s been taking are working to keep her tumors from growing or spreading any.

The plan is to keep her on these same meds for the next several months and check again. Luckily she hasn’t had any bad side effects from them (even though they are technically a form of chemo), and her hair has been able to grow back in!! She is so excited that we are finally able to put it up in a baby ponytail.

And in other great news - her doctor has given the go-ahead to get her port removed!! This means she will no longer need to get it accessed monthly (which involves them poking a gnarly-looking needle in her chest to attach tubes every time), and she will no longer have a foreign object in her body that could cause potential complications or infections. So exciting as this is one more step towards a normal childhood for her.

As always, she continues to smile and make the most out of life! She is and will always be my little superhero. #SavvyStrong #kickingcancersass
