My Story

This June, I am taking part in the Great Cycle Challenge to fight kids' cancer!

Why? Because right now, cancer is the biggest killer of children from disease in the United States. Over 15,700 children are diagnosed every year, and sadly, 38 children die of cancer every week.

Kids should be living life, not fighting for it.

So I am raising funds through my challenge to help these kids and support Children's Cancer Research Fund to allow them to continue their work to develop lifesaving treatments and find a cure for childhood cancer.

Please support me by making a donation to give these kids the brighter futures they deserve.

Your support will change little lives.

Thank you.

Cheri

  • My sweet Shine lost his battle
    11 May 2018

With a heavy heart I had to help my best friend cross the rainbow bridge last night. To some our pets are just that. A pet. For me it’s so much more. They are an intimate part of my life and my family. They are my child but with 4 legs.

As some know Sunshine has been battling liver cancer since 8/1/17. He was given only 1-4 months max. Well against all odds, we beat those odds by 5 months. He lived a good quality of live in those months. Some days are tiring but much more good than bad. The last couple weeks proved challenging and he lost his battle last night. It was by far the hardest thing I have ever had to do, watch and live. RIP sweet Sunshine. You are my light and skies are gray. Run free!

The reason why I added this piece of my life to this update because cancer doesn’t care who or what it grabs. It just grabs ahold and take life away. It rips the hearts out of families and parents making one feel helpless to help. It robs individuals of living normal lives. It’s heartbreaking. It’s painful! We MUST find a cure. Let’s start at the root of life. BABIES! CHILDREN!

Please share this challenge with others and help me to help make this happen. Then maybe one day not only will children live, but it will end adult cancer and then just maybe out 4 legged family members as well.

    Bless you all.

  • An Angel got her wings
    10 Apr 2018

With a heavy heart, we lost a precious little soul this past weekend. Unfortunately her little body could no longer fight. Miss Callie, age 10, fought bravely for 18 months against pelvic rhabdomyosarcoma. She had multiple surgeries and tried different treatments but still could not beat this evil thing growing inside her. She was surrounded by her parents and 3 brothers.

This is yet again another reason why my heart is so passionate in helping to find a cure for Childhood cancer. The pain they go though, the loss of childhood innocence and being forced to grow up and endure the ramifications of cancer is unbelievable. Then the after effects on the family. Just heartbreaking! Please share this story so sweet Callie is never forgotten.

My heart has been really heavy since I heard the news. Being part of Callie's Crew has a whole new meaning now. Everyday we will ride hard and raise as much money as we can to help stop cancer from taking more young lives. Sweet Callie is now one of those 38 children who loose their battle each week against this disease.

Rest in peace sweet Callie. God just gained another BEAUTIFUL ANGEL with perfect wings.

  • Letters of thanks
    5 Feb 2018

I received an email from John Hallberg, CEO of the Children's Cancer Research Fund Organization. He was very appreciative of the efforts I have already put forth to help find a cure for childhood cancer. Without going through my personal email letter, I did want to share this with you. To me this is the body of why I do this. This is a huge step to help end this cruel disease.

    Quote:

"Cheri, I know you rode with us last year and in 2016, and I'm so appreciative of your efforts to pedal 1076 miles and raise $6306 over the past 2 years to help these kids. That's an incredible achievement."

"Our research has already led to breakthroughs that have helped increase childhood cancer survival rates to over 80 percent, but we're not giving up the fight until we achieve a 100% cure rate with healthy survivors. Sadly, cancer is the leading cause of death of children in the United States, which means we still have lots of work to do."

Most of you now cancer has effected my immediate family as well as distant. It has also grabbed hold of two of my pets. One is still with me that I fight for every day of his life.

Cancer has no prejudice on its victims. It will take whomever, whenever it wants. Even though Life this past year has been rough on my family & I, I am going to give this challenge all I have to give this June.

With sincerest thanks, I just want you all to know how grateful I am to each of you. I COULD NOT do this without YOU! Let's stop CANCER and kick it square in it's arse!
